Charter Day

Celebrate Charter Day on June 13 by making an investment in Central High School.

The 283rd graduating class walks the stage for graduation tomorrow – many of you will recall this accomplishment with pangs of nostalgia and pride.

At every commencement, to mark the beginning of the ceremony, a bell is rung by the class president. This very bell has been a part of the Central tradition since 1845; up until the early 1920s, this bell was used to signal the start of the school day.

The bell is a thread that connects all of us–it has rung for every class for nearly 180 years.

In preparation for the unveiling of an exciting way to reminisce about those “glorious days of old”, we invite our alumni community to “ring” in a new tradition – Charter Day.

“Here’s the rule – you can only ring the bell three times,” Ramon Guzman (271), AACHS Board Member and President of the 271st Class reminds us, as he reminisces on that moment over a decade ago!

One: It is special to think of how many of us have rang the bell and connected our history of ‘those glorious days of old’ to present-day scholars.

Two: To know that every single class that graduated from Central heard it, and all future ones will, too – is a special tradition to keep alive.

Three: Join me in honoring our dear old High by making a donation of any size meaningful to you.

Please join us on this, and every June 13th to commemorate the day Central was chartered, to reflect on our rich traditions, and to make new ones, together.

Make sure to follow our social media channels for exciting and engaging ways to connect with our alumni family on this historical day.

Please continue to support and preserve the academic excellence of Central students, and celebrate graduation and make a gift today.
