Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has named Common Pleas Court Judge Benjamin Lerner, a member of the 209th class, deputy managing director for criminal justice, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Prior to joining the bench in 1996, Judge Lerner was Of Counsel at the law firm of Dilworth, Paxson in Philadelphia, according to his bio with the American Law Institute. He was elected to the institute, which says it is the leading independent organization in the U.S. producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law, in 1999.
