Why give?
Thank you for exploring our website to learn about how you can support today’s students and invest in the future of Central. Central High School of Philadelphia, the second oldest continuously public high school in the United States, was chartered in 1836 and opened its doors in 1838 with 63 students and four professors. Today, there are over 2,400 students and more than 100 faculty members. As a college preparatory public school, Central challenges students with rigorous academic programs to prepare them for the demands of higher education.
Ranked as one of the most diverse high schools in the United States, Central students represent the breadth of Philadelphia’s racial, ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic groups. The desire to attend Central is evidenced by the number of applications for its freshman class—more than 4,000 in any given year for less than 700 seats.
Your generosity through The Associated Alumni of Central High School of Philadelphia, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will enable students to develop problem solving skills, a life-long passion for learning, and aspirations to be thoughtful leaders of their generation.
