“Throughout our time within Central hallowed halls, Kevin and I only shared two classes. We had known each other before high school, but we were not close; he is the cousin of a friend, and we would occasionally end up at the same get-togethers. However, he left an impression on me in those two measly classes. In Ms. Harris’ English class, Kevin sat across the room from me. He was quiet, but now and then, he would whisper something to the cool kids seated around him, and they would burst out laughing. Intriguing – check. And in Ms. Jones’ Gym class, he always held the door, not just for me, but anyone, and did so with a pleasant smile. Manners – check. After graduating, I was preparing to go to another area college, but stars aligned, and I accepted a last-minute opportunity to go to Temple University. Upon moving into a dormitory, I found myself struggling to open my mailbox in the lobby, turned right, and saw another student struggling with theirs. Of course, it was Kevin, and we were instant friends grasping at a bit of familiarity and helping each other in this new world. We stayed in the friend zone for a while until we could not take the angst of it anymore. Now, 16 years later, we are married, still living in Philadelphia with the hopes of sharing our favorite Alma Mater with our two sons. It’s Central – that should go without saying.”
