Every day at Central High School, meaningful connections are made across languages, cultures, and families.
Making it possible is a team of seven Bilingual Counseling Assistant Specialists (BCAs), who work to ensure that every member of the school community feels welcomed, supported, understood, and celebrated.
“We work closely with families who speak a language other than English at home, supporting them as they navigate their student’s journey at school. We are fortunate to be part of the Central High School community, where every person’s culture and language is honored each day. BCAs provide interpretation and translation services, facilitate family workshops, and help multilingual families feel confident and connected to their child’s academic experience. Across the School District of Philadelphia, these services are offered in more than 30 languages.
