My name is Ewdi R. and I am a in the 286th class, a Junior at CHS. I am writing to share something, a video I made to show the Central Community about a program near to my heart.
I went to a small elementary & middle school called Henry A. Brown. I was the only one in my 8th grade class to go to Central which was daunting at first.
Before starting 9th grade, I attended the Bridge Summer Institute, a week-long program where I got to meet 132 other incoming freshmen. We had a chance to get to know our peers and learn more about life at Central before the school year started.
From there, I began the year-long program that provided us with mentors, upperclassmen at Central, to help guide us. The summer institute, combined with the year-long Bridge Leadership Program, helped me become a better student, a better leader, and honestly, a better person.
Having a mentor guide me through freshman year changed what I perceived was going to be a tough year into a year of opportunity and growth. Now I am giving back to the Central community by becoming a mentor for the Bridge Leadership Program and furthering my leadership positions throughout Central.
I was interested in videography as a way of promoting the clubs that I am a member of at school. I got an internship at two programs POWER and POPPYN both of which taught me how to create meaningful content to support my peers. Learning these skills, I got the opportunity to help the Bridge Leadership Program in return.
Making this video has been been an awesome opportunity. I am so excited to share it with you.
When you watch the video, I hope you’ll consider supporting the Bridge Leadership Program. Your donation directly helps keep the year-long Bridge Program and the Bridge Summer Institute going — the same experience that helped me get more involved at Central.
I wholeheartedly believe that the Bridge Leadership Program, if further funded, could provide an immense impact to life at Central.
Thank you for watching, giving, sharing, and for believing in Central students.
Sincerely,
Ewdi (pronounced El-dee), 286
