sportsCentral students and staff are putting on a fun event to help tackle a far-from-fun reality of life: pediatric cancer.

The sophomore class (277) is organizing the school’s first Central-THON, a six-hour dance marathon on Tuesday April 26 in the main gym  to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Children’s Miracle Network.

The dance is modeled after Penn State’s THON. History teacher and 277 class sponsor Elliott Drago said he hopes to see at least 300 students participate this year. Friends, family and alumni will be able to purchase tickets to see the dance marathon for $12 at the door.

“With your help, Central High School has the potential to turn this event into a lifelong tradition that will always bring happiness to our school community through the gift of giving to others,” wrote Mr. Drago and 277 member Emily Eiler  in introducing the event.

The official online donor page is here.

Or if you would like to donate by check, please make one out to Central High School (Elliott Drago written in the memo line) and mail to Central High School, 1700 W. Olney Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19141.

“Any support will be greatly appreciated,” said Mr. Drago.
