Mayor-elect Jim Kenney has chosen the Police Department’s First Deputy Commissioner Richard Ross (241) to move into the top job after the new administration takes office in January, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

SEPTA Police Chief Thomas J. Nestel III, whose name was mentioned as a possible candidate for the job, praised Ross’ selection in a tweet, saying “The @PhillyPolice will be in good hands with a real gentleman who also happens to be a great leader.”
